Remote Clinical Inquiry Specialist, Genetic Counselor

Responds to clinical inquiries about Abbott precision oncology diagnostics and supports testing, result interpretation, education, and genetic counseling operations. The role also contributes to marketing, special projects, and professional education.

Description

  • Respond to clinical, technical, and scientific inquiries about precision oncology products from internal and external clients
  • Advise laboratory staff and molecular geneticists on accessioning questions, test order changes, and interpretation of results
  • Work with molecular geneticists and other teams to deliver timely, high-quality test results
  • Contribute to marketing materials and website content
  • Represent Abbott at scientific meetings and industry conferences
  • Build professional connections with other genetic counselors
  • Create educational materials and deliver presentations
  • Keep professional certification current through continuing education
  • Coordinate intake and implementation of special projects
  • Take on specialized work beyond standard genetic counselor responsibilities
  • Help train genetic counseling assistants
  • Follow Abbott’s mission and values and comply with Quality Management System policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance
  • Support inclusive behavior
  • Travel locally and overnight to meet clients and attend conferences

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in genetic counseling
  • ABGC or CCGC board certified or eligible
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Preferred: at least 2 years of experience in an oncology genetics clinical role
  • Preferred: experience with multiple oncology genomic technologies, such as tumor NGS, ctDNA, and molecular residual disease assays
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of human genetics
  • General understanding of personalized healthcare, clinical genetics, laboratory medicine, and informatics
  • Able to explain complex information clearly to varied audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal, nonverbal, and written communication skills
  • Able to analyze complex problems
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Able to work the designated schedule
  • Able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation
  • Visual acuity sufficient to view computer screens and patient records
  • Able to stand or sit for up to 50 minutes per hour
  • Hearing sufficient to receive laboratory warnings and hear telephones, doorbells, and security alarms
  • Able to move throughout the building
  • Able to work in standard office and genetic testing laboratory areas
