Multi-State Associate Attorney (Remote)

Fully remote associate attorney role handling Medicaid, litigation, probate, and guardianship matters for a national law firm. Responsibilities include legal drafting, case strategy, client and court communications, and hearing appearances.

Description

  • Manage assigned cases independently from initial intake through resolution
  • Formulate and carry out legal strategies grounded in factual investigation and legal analysis
  • Communicate substantively with courts, administrative agencies, clients, financial institutions, and opposing counsel
  • Prepare and review pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and security instruments
  • Represent the firm at hearings and trials when required
  • Practice within a fully remote model offering structured support and autonomy in daily work
  • Maintain regular Monday–Friday business hours aligned with the applicable U.S. time zone for team collaboration

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • At least three years of substantive legal experience
  • Active licenses in at least two of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia; other active licenses may be considered
  • Strong written and verbal advocacy abilities
  • Capacity to work independently and collaborate effectively with a remote team
  • Excellent organization, time management, and personal accountability
  • Persistent, resourceful, and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Confidence in taking ownership of outcomes from start to finish
  • Willingness to travel for in-person hearings, firm training, meetings, and other firm-sponsored events
  • Proficiency with Mac and Apple operating systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience using timekeeping and case management software
  • Familiarity with legal research applications
  • Submission of a cover letter, resume, and at least three professional references
