Multi-State Associate Attorney (Remote)

Remote associate attorney handling Medicaid, litigation, probate, and guardianship matters across multiple states. The role covers case strategy, legal filings, hearings, appeals, and client representation.

Description

  • Manage assigned cases independently from initial intake through final resolution
  • Create and implement legal strategies grounded in factual investigation and legal analysis
  • Communicate substantively with courts, administrative agencies, clients, financial institutions, and opposing counsel
  • Prepare and assess pleadings, motions, briefs, appeals, agreements, and security instruments
  • Attend hearings and trials when required
  • Handle Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement matters, administrative appeals, civil litigation, probate and estate claims, and guardianship cases
  • Partner with experienced paralegals and centralized operations personnel
  • Take part in onboarding, training, supervision, mentorship, firm training sessions, meetings, hearings, proceedings, and firm events

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • At least three years of substantive legal experience
  • Active licensure in at least two of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia; additional active licensure will be considered
  • Strong written and oral advocacy capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a remote team
  • Excellent organization, time management, and personal accountability
  • Persistent, resourceful, and proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Confidence in taking ownership of outcomes from start to finish
  • Willingness to travel for in-person hearings, firm training sessions and meetings, and other firm-sponsored events
  • Proficiency with Mac and Apple operating systems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience using timekeeping and case management software
  • Proficiency with legal research applications
  • Submission of a cover letter, resume, and at least three professional references
