Mid-Senior Embedded Engineer – C/C++ and RTOS | VIPAS AB, Sweden

Design and integrate embedded firmware, hardware, and connectivity solutions as part of VIPAS AB’s consulting projects. Work across automotive, telecom, IoT, and healthcare domains.

Description

  • Create and integrate embedded software and hardware solutions
  • Contribute throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation, debugging, testing, and deployment
  • Design, implement, and test embedded applications
  • Develop firmware for microcontrollers
  • Build and optimize software for RTOS and bare-metal environments
  • Investigate low-level drivers, interrupts, and communication stacks
  • Implement and integrate wired and wireless communication protocols
  • Connect IoT platforms and edge devices securely and efficiently
  • Partner with hardware teams on board bring-up, schematics, and hardware-software integration
  • Develop and run unit, integration, and system-validation tests
  • Support compliance with applicable embedded and functional-safety standards
  • Work with version control, CI/CD, build systems, containers, and virtualization
  • Convert technical requirements into embedded solutions
  • Coordinate with hardware, software, systems, and QA teams
  • Keep current with embedded technologies, development tools, and industry standards

Requirements

  • Strong C/C++ programming ability; Python or Rust experience is advantageous
  • Experience working with MCUs, SoCs, DSPs, or FPGA-based systems
  • Understanding of embedded operating systems and real-time constraints
  • Familiarity with embedded debugging tools and testing practices
  • Experience developing embedded applications in C, C++, or Python
  • Experience with microcontrollers including ARM, PIC, STM32, AVR, TI, NXP, Infineon, or Renesas
  • Experience with RTOS platforms such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks, QNX, ThreadX, or AUTOSAR, or with bare-metal systems
  • Knowledge of protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, LIN, Ethernet, USB, Modbus, BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, LoRa, and MQTT
  • Experience working with IoT platforms and edge devices
  • Familiarity with JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Lauterbach, or GDB
  • Knowledge of MISRA C, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or DO-178C, as relevant to the domain
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Bitbucket Pipelines
  • Experience using CMake, Make, Yocto, or Buildroot
  • Familiarity with Docker and virtualization in embedded development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related field
  • Valid EU work permit
  • A master’s degree or PhD is advantageous for senior or architecture-focused roles
  • Role-specific experience in automotive, IoT, Linux kernel, device drivers, BSP development, or MATLAB/Simulink is preferred
