Liability Claims Representative

Investigate coverage, liability, property damage, and bodily injury claims for Sentry, a mutual insurance company. Manage assigned caseloads, negotiate settlements, and guide claims through resolution.

Description

  • Investigate and resolve insurance claims accurately, efficiently, and fairly.
  • Manage assigned caseloads independently and negotiate settlements.
  • Review policies and interpret coverage terms, conditions, and language to verify coverage.
  • Assess liability using recorded statements, police reports, and other supporting evidence.
  • Negotiate or deny liability based on investigation findings.
  • Evaluate physical damage and bodily injury claims using estimates, photographs, appraisals, medical reports, medical bills, and related evidence.
  • Coordinate with medical providers, repair shops, and contractors to arrange necessary services.
  • Establish appropriate claim reserves as liability evaluations develop.
  • Negotiate bodily injury settlements with policyholders, claimants, attorneys, and other insurers.
  • Process claim payments promptly and within authorized limits.
  • Record decisions, communications, and activities throughout the claims process.
  • Deliver empathetic customer service by explaining procedures, providing updates, and communicating decisions and their rationale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least one year of related work experience.
  • Previous experience representing attorneys is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required state licenses.
  • Ability to review and analyze detailed documents, insurance policies, coverage information, medical bills, and medical records.
  • Ability to make sound claim decisions, prioritize tasks, and manage workload under time-limit demands.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated foundational negotiation ability.
