Description

  • Act as the lead technologist across projects for a range of clients
  • Direct complex projects and multidisciplinary teams across technologies and frameworks
  • Contribute quickly while establishing strong client relationships and trust
  • Make pragmatic technology decisions while delivering high-quality work to schedule
  • Facilitate architecture and software design discussions
  • Work across the full machine learning lifecycle, including data ingestion, preprocessing, deployment, integration, and performance monitoring
  • Develop technical and non-technical solutions with colleagues and clients
  • Lead or initiate structured feedback discussions through retrospectives
  • Communicate outcomes clearly, document decisions, and drive follow-up actions
  • Demonstrate 8th Light’s values and strengthen team and company culture
  • Keep team backlogs healthy, prioritized, and estimated
  • Own high-level roadmaps for large engagements
  • Build and maintain relationships with client technical leaders
  • Run client syncs, share status updates, assess risks, and present solutions
  • Identify, reduce, and resolve obstacles affecting team progress
  • Mentor colleagues, lead or create internal and client workshops, represent 8th Light in the technology community, or support hiring

Requirements

  • Typically bring at least seven years of sustained success across varied projects
  • Have led high-stakes consulting engagements from discovery through production
  • Build high-quality, maintainable software collaboratively and incrementally
  • Write production-quality code in languages and frameworks such as Java, C#/.NET, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Go, Ruby, Scala, R, and SQL
  • Use AI-assisted development tools for scaffolding, refactoring, debugging, test generation, and documentation
  • Have built or integrated AI/ML-powered capabilities into products or systems
  • Have experience with automated testing
  • Can debug and refactor existing codebases
  • Work effectively with Git, macOS/Linux, and CI/CD systems
  • Address scalability, security, reliability, and performance requirements
  • Bring together cross-functional teams and varied perspectives
  • Make considered recommendations and establish direction in ambiguous situations
  • Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge
  • Give and receive feedback constructively
  • Communicate empathetically with stakeholders and colleagues
  • Balance technical priorities with product and user needs
  • Strongly preferred: experience with platform engineering, data engineering or Databricks, production agentic systems, RAG pipelines, vector search, LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, AutoGen, n8n, DevSecOps, DevOps, MLOps, and Infrastructure as Code
