Junior Software Engineer – Java/SQL (Remote, New York)

Join Sarnova to develop and support Digitech’s cloud-based billing and business intelligence platform for the EMS transport industry. The role focuses on dependable software delivery, technology evaluation, troubleshooting, and user-centered collaboration.

Description

  • Build, test, and maintain software with established languages, technical standards, and development practices.
  • Analyze, test, and debug solutions across development, test, and production environments.
  • Support production applications by identifying issues early and implementing effective fixes.
  • Create proofs of concept to assess proposed technical approaches.
  • Assess, recommend, and implement technologies that improve product development, performance, and usability.
  • Work with developers, designers, and business stakeholders to align solutions with functional and user needs.
  • Explain and defend technical decisions through sound engineering judgment and core programming principles.
  • Keep informed about emerging technologies, tools, and industry developments.
  • Champion strong user experiences and consistent development best practices.
  • Support individual, departmental, and organizational initiatives as required.
  • Handle other duties assigned for the role.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline is strongly preferred; a high school diploma with equivalent experience may be considered.
  • One to three years of preferred full-stack development experience.
  • Required proficiency in either C# with SQL Server or Java with MySQL Server; experience with additional languages is advantageous.
  • Experience designing usable interfaces.
  • Preferred familiarity with advanced SQL queries.
  • Healthcare industry experience is advantageous.
  • Careful, detail-oriented approach with a record of delivering high-quality work correctly the first time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and planning abilities, including managing multiple projects, prioritizing initiatives, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to build productive relationships and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong self-motivation, urgency, initiative, and ability to anticipate needs.
  • Curiosity, drive to achieve, and willingness to question established approaches.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and career development.
  • Ability to independently manage the full scope of the role, including goals and business practices, in a remote setting.
