Information Technology Manager, Certification and Safety — Boeing

Lead Boeing’s Certification & Safety software teams, overseeing Agile development, enterprise solutions, and aircraft software delivery. The role combines people leadership, software lifecycle management, stakeholder collaboration, and support for commercial aerospace certification programs.

Description

  • Lead Boeing’s Certification & Safety application maintenance and development team
  • Guide team members through mentorship, coaching, performance support, development opportunities, and work assignments
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and establish delivery timelines
  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle from requirements analysis and design through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Maintain compliance with software development practices, coding standards, and quality assurance processes
  • Build and sustain relationships with customers, stakeholders, regulators, peers, partners, direct reports, vendors, and contractors
  • Deliver software solutions on schedule while meeting service level agreements
  • Administer the team budget and financial plan
  • Coordinate with business teams, project managers, and IT support to integrate solutions with existing systems and processes
  • Recruit, develop, engage, and retain team talent
  • Work with global teams to define future operating models and deliver enterprise solutions
  • Stabilize or retire legacy applications, improve current solutions, and guide future technologies in the Certification & Safety product area
  • Support certification work for new Commercial programs, strengthen the safety culture, and deploy operations-critical software to aircraft before first flight and delivery

Requirements

  • At least one year of leadership experience as a team leader, temporary manager, large-scale cross-functional project or program manager, or formal manager, or completion of Boeing’s “Exploring Leadership” course
  • More than 10 years of experience in information technology or technical support
  • At least five years of experience working cross-functionally with employees ranging from individual contributors to executive leaders
  • At least five years of software development experience in collaborative Agile teams using structured development practices, code reviews, and automated DevOps tools and processes
  • Successful completion of the company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process
  • Must meet U.S. export control requirements as a U.S. Person
  • A U.S. Person is a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders preferred
  • Experience with Agile software development or the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) preferred

  • Exposure to integrating AI solutions into existing engineering software preferred
  • Experience coaching and mentoring managers, leads, and individual contributors toward continuous learning and improvement preferred
  • Aerospace industry experience preferred
