Financial Counselor Onsite in Roanoke VA

Financial Counselor supporting insurance verification, patient registration, authorization, financial assistance, and payment collection at Carilion - Roanoke Memorial Hospital. This full-time onsite role is based in Roanoke, Virginia.

Description

  • Educate and validate inpatient service benefits
  • Review inpatient coverage, authorizations, and patient liabilities with patients in person
  • Calculate patient liabilities, including prior balances, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and balances after financial assistance
  • Collect patient payments and estimated liabilities
  • Process patient access, insurance eligibility, and follow-up reports
  • Conduct daily in-house call reviews to confirm payer sources and authorizations
  • Complete preregistration and registration activities
  • Track missed collection opportunities and visit patient rooms at least three times daily when required
  • Record patient liabilities on accounts each day
  • Make follow-up calls and send post-discharge liability notices
  • Obtain treatment consent, observation, Important Message from Medicare, and other registration documents
  • Support insurance verification, Medicaid and charity processing, and eligibility activities
  • Run daily census reports to identify possible eligibility
  • Gather and organize outpatient orders through Revenue Cycle system queues
  • Perform all duties in line with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and Ensemble’s mission

Requirements

  • At least one year of customer service experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Obtain CRCR certification within six months of hire; certification is company-paid
  • Reside in and have authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to work onsite at Carilion - Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia
  • Availability may be required for nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Knowledge of patient access, insurance eligibility, financial assistance, Medicaid, charity processing, registration, and revenue cycle systems
