Finance Lead – Fractional CFO Pathway (London Hybrid)
Lead finance across a portfolio of fast-growing clients, advising founders and leadership teams on reporting, forecasting, modelling, and strategy. Build toward fractional CFO work through hands-on portfolio experience, coaching, and senior support.
Description
- Lead finance across a portfolio of fin-house clients
- Serve as a trusted finance adviser to founders, leadership teams, and boards
- Own forecasting, planning, commercial analysis, and financial modelling
- Challenge founder perspectives, evaluate risk, and inform business decisions
- Link short-term operating performance to long-term strategic priorities
- Direct reporting and commercial narrative across profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and advanced models for fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and VAT across the client portfolio
- Set Xero standards and promote consistent best practices
- Manage and mentor up to three finance managers
- Partner directly with founders on fundraising, growth, and complex business decisions
Requirements
- Operate effectively as an independent contractor, managing your time, administration, and work outside IR35
- Have served as the senior-most finance professional in a fast-growing SME or scaleup
- Bring direct founder-facing experience and credibility in leadership discussions
- Manage multiple business contexts while switching between them effectively
- Be motivated to progress into fractional CFO work and able to identify your remaining development needs
- Have at least seven years of experience in accounting or finance
- Hold an ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification, though strong alternative backgrounds will be considered
- Have an established limited company with suitable insurance and IR35 governance
- Be proficient with Xero, Excel, Google Sheets, and AI tools
