Field Service Technician III – Houston, TX (On-Site)

EnerSys is seeking a Field Service Technician III to install, diagnose, and repair industrial battery and charging systems. The role involves travel to customer sites and technical support across the Houston service area.

Description

  • Support EnerSys products and services throughout the assigned territory
  • Coordinate equipment installations, technical investigations, and corrective actions
  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, diagnose, and repair equipment
  • Replace faulty components, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts using a gas torch
  • Clean and neutralize customer batteries at service locations
  • Diagnose and repair battery-charging systems
  • Install, maintain, coordinate, and repair battery-handling equipment
  • Operate material-handling equipment in accordance with OSHA requirements
  • Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities to specification
  • Inspect equipment, determine root causes, and recommend repairs or replacements
  • Coordinate issue resolution with technical support, customer service, sales, and other teams
  • Provide on-site technical support and advise technicians and sales personnel
  • Maintain performance reports and facilitate communication between customers and EnerSys
  • Identify service-business opportunities and execute plans with the Service Manager or Supervisor
  • Create and deliver safe-equipment-operation training for employees and customers
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while supporting Service Center operations
  • Supervise and train new and junior technicians
  • Assess on-site technician performance at management’s request
  • Complete additional assigned duties

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or one to two years of related industry experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least five years of field service experience
  • Ability to read, speak, and write English with comprehension
  • Ability to interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to present information and answer questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public
  • Knowledge of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, data-collection, fact-finding, and conclusion-drawing skills
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions presented mathematically or diagrammatically
  • Basic proficiency with internet software, email, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to operate a mobile phone
  • Hazmat endorsement or ability to obtain one
  • Willingness and ability to travel overnight
  • Willingness and ability to operate a forklift
  • Must meet company driving standards; certain vehicles may require a specific driver’s license
  • Ability to distinguish colors
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) continuously each day
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to properly wear required personal protective equipment
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime and variable schedules, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work in plant and warehouse settings involving electrical-shock and lead/fiberglass exposure
