Engineering Lead, Electrical Components at New Flyer

Lead electrical component design, integration, and production initiatives for NFI/MCI. Oversee design integration, supplier approvals, compliance activities, and cross-functional engineering execution.

Description

  • Analyze customer specifications for product and process gaps, documenting risks, approved alternatives, and required deviations
  • Represent Production Engineering in vendor discussions and assess supplier quotations during bidding
  • Guide engineering teams technically in line with customer requirements
  • Assess project risks and launch validation activities to support industry and regulatory compliance
  • Direct New Design Integration projects through SMART goals, virtual bus reviews, KPIs, task assignments, and comprehensive status reporting
  • Evaluate and approve Engineering Change Notification packages
  • Oversee engineering ANDON postings and responses
  • Assemble supplier approval packages, customer approval drawings, and test reports while managing required signoffs
  • Coordinate customer approval-drawing releases and tracking
  • Partner with vendors and customers on design issues, Sales Release Change Requests, and alternate sourcing approaches
  • Connect Engineering with Customer Program Management, Vehicle Application Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Production, Quality, and Service Engineering
  • Approve Option Value forms covering Family and Feature details
  • Contribute to training, mentoring, team development, performance management, and succession planning
  • Advance product standardization and design integration across Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain
  • Organize design improvement opportunities and present initiatives to the Change Control Board

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a Certified Engineering Technologist designation
  • At least 5 years of relevant engineering or project leadership experience, or 3+ years of internal technical experience with NFI/MCI
  • Advanced technical and project management skills
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities
  • Experience with engineering tools and systems including NX, Teamcenter, Oracle, ePlanner, Excel, and A3 reporting
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Willingness to travel to Canada up to 15%
