Engineer II, Casting Materials and Processes — Phoenix Hybrid

Engineer II role focused on casting materials and process engineering for Honeywell Aerospace gas turbine engines. The position partners with suppliers and internal engineering teams on product development, technical support, and issue resolution.

Description

  • Provide technical expertise in materials and process engineering for cast products
  • Support casting materials and processes used to design and manufacture cast parts
  • Support new and existing cast products, including aerospace gas turbine engine components for propulsion and auxiliary power
  • Contribute throughout every phase of product development
  • Act as a technical resource for less experienced engineers
  • Partner with Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to develop customer-focused solutions and systems
  • Work directly with suppliers to investigate and resolve issues
  • Evaluate suppliers and perform supplier audits
  • Coordinate between suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineering, and Integrated Supply Chain teams
  • Report to the Senior Engineering Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical field such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • At least 2 years of materials or process engineering experience in the casting industry
  • At least 2 years of experience with nickel, aluminum, steel, and/or titanium aerospace casting alloys
  • U.S. Person status as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, person with protected asylum or refugee status, or individual able to obtain export authorization
  • Current authorization to work full-time in the United States
  • Practical understanding and hands-on experience with casting
  • Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications
  • Knowledge of Nadcap and applicable industry standards, requirements, and approvals
  • Ability to evaluate prospective suppliers and identify their strengths and weaknesses
  • Experience performing casting supplier audits
  • Experience developing and working with suppliers
  • Experience diagnosing materials and process issues and developing technical solutions
  • Experience collaborating with Design Engineering
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and requirements
  • Experience using Six Sigma, Lean, and other process improvement methods
  • Materials and process engineering experience focused on machining operations and processes
  • Ability to occasionally lift 35 pounds in one lift
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10–20%
