Divisional AI Engineer III

Lead the architecture and reliability of shared LLM infrastructure, while driving adoption across products. Build reusable orchestration, observability, and production services.

Description

  • Own the architecture, implementation, and operational health of a platform area such as agent lifecycle and state, sandbox context exchange, model orchestration, or tracing and evaluation.
  • Design services and interfaces for long-running tasks that remain durable and recoverable across deployments, restarts, and retries, and support inspection and replay.
  • Create reusable approaches to packaging and retrieving context across execution environments, with clear boundaries for access, retention, and data movement.
  • Build and improve model routing and orchestration, and define and use measures of quality, latency, reliability, and cost per task.
  • Lead technical discovery with product teams and prioritize platform work that cuts duplicated engineering and unplanned interruptions.
  • Set testing, tracing, evaluation, and operational readiness practices for the domain; review production signals and lead complex incident resolution.
  • Write architecture documentation and migration guidance to help engineers adopt platform capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and contribute to technical planning across the AI engineering group.
  • Follow company policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least five years of software engineering experience or equivalent practical experience, including responsibility for production services.
  • Experience building LLM-powered applications or AI infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python, with experience designing production services and APIs.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems, asynchronous job processing, persistence, observability, cloud deployment, and secure system design.
  • Experience shipping and supporting LLM features, including practical tradeoffs among model behavior, latency, and cost.
  • Ability to lead technical work from an ambiguous problem through design, implementation, rollout, and operational improvement.
  • Ability to create reusable, understandable platform interfaces for teams with different product needs.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions, communicate risks and tradeoffs, and mentor engineers at different experience levels.
