Director of Litigation Counsel — Florida Remote

Lead Valet Living’s employment, commercial, regulatory, privacy, and intellectual-property litigation matters. Advise business leaders and manage outside counsel from initial assessment through resolution.

Description

  • Oversee defense of labor and employment claims and administrative charges
  • Advise Human Resources and management on litigation exposure while directing external employment counsel
  • Manage commercial contract disputes from negotiation through trial
  • Prepare regulatory filings and coordinate responses to inquiries, investigations, and enforcement actions
  • Represent the company in contested regulatory and administrative proceedings
  • Represent the company in mediations and other alternative dispute resolution matters
  • Draft mediation statements, assess settlement ranges, shape negotiation plans, and prepare or review agreements and releases
  • Work with Finance and Accounts Receivable on affirmative collection matters
  • Manage trademark, copyright, patent, and trade-secret disputes
  • Direct privacy and data-protection disputes, claims, investigations, and regulatory inquiries
  • Support Risk Management in defending workers’ compensation and third-party claims
  • Lead case evaluation, discovery, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Implement litigation holds and oversee e-discovery and document preservation
  • Select and manage external counsel while overseeing litigation budgets, strategy, and settlement positions
  • Convert complex legal matters into practical, business-focused guidance for executives and cross-functional teams
  • Provide senior leadership with regular updates on matter status, exposure, reserves, and significant developments
  • Report to the Vice President, Assistant General Counsel, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer
  • Collaborate with leaders across the business, Human Resources, Finance, Risk Management, Operations, and Compliance

Requirements

  • Approximately 4–7 years of litigation experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or combination of both
  • Capacity to manage legal matters independently from intake through resolution
  • Experience across relevant practice areas, especially employment, commercial, privacy, consumer protection, regulatory, intellectual property, or workers’ compensation matters
  • Strong knowledge of litigation strategy, procedure, mediation, and negotiation
  • Sound judgment when evaluating legal risk and exposure
  • Ability to turn legal analysis into practical advice and communicate effectively with executives, business teams, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, multi-practice caseload and prioritize competing deadlines
  • Experience selecting and directing outside counsel and managing litigation strategy, budgets, and spend
  • Excellent written and oral advocacy abilities
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Active good-standing membership in at least one state bar where the company operates
  • Ability to secure any required admission or in-house counsel authorization
  • Self-directed and collaborative, with the ability to work with limited supervision in a fast-paced setting
  • First- or second-chair experience in trials, arbitrations, or hearings preferred
  • Previous experience supporting a corporate legal department preferred
  • Familiarity with major privacy and consumer protection frameworks, including state comprehensive privacy laws, the FTC Act, and comparable state statutes preferred
  • Admission in multiple jurisdictions preferred
  • Approximately 10% travel
