Data Architect

Design and lead Azure and AWS big data platforms for Clarkston Consulting’s life sciences, consumer products, and retail clients. Guide client initiatives and mentor analytics engineering teams.

Description

  • Collaborate with employees, leaders, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Develop original project concepts using advanced analytical and conceptual expertise
  • Architect and build platforms that support scalable solutions
  • Apply technical expertise in current and emerging technologies, trends, and practices
  • Identify business and regulatory challenges and recommend process, product, or service improvements
  • Design, prototype, and develop big data platforms on Azure or AWS
  • Convert business goals into architectural strategies and technical solutions
  • Lead delivery efforts for client initiatives
  • Coach junior Data Architects and Data Engineers
  • Help define and oversee client solutions
  • Travel to client engagements when required
  • Work from a home office when away from client sites and travel

Requirements

  • Experience implementing data management solutions with data lake platforms and related technologies
  • Experience designing data architectures for data warehousing, business intelligence, master data management, and reference data management
  • Understanding of Data as a Service (DaaS) concepts and REST APIs
  • Understanding of Azure or AWS data management technologies, including Azure SQL, Azure Data Catalog, Azure Service Fabric, and microservices
  • Understanding of data integration points for TOGAF or another recognized architecture framework
  • Working knowledge of ITIL, SDLC, or comparable development and operations methodologies
  • Experience creating data catalogues and connecting them with enterprise architecture
  • Understanding of cloud data platforms and process automation
  • Experience applying data modeling methods to data integration
  • Experience collaborating with employees, leaders, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Substantial experience analyzing business processes and functions
  • Substantial experience serving as an engineer or technical subject matter expert across at least two of infrastructure, data, application, or security technologies
  • Ability to create system diagrams for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Advanced analytical and conceptual capabilities
  • Experience establishing and applying architectural governance
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to technical design challenges
  • Experience identifying business challenges, including regulatory concerns, and recommending improvements
  • Four-year degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or an equivalent field
  • Expected travel of 30–50%
