Customs Entry Writer - United States (On-Site)

Prepare accurate customs entries and supporting records to facilitate compliant import clearance in the United States for Estes Forwarding Worldwide. Coordinate with customers, vendors, government agencies, and internal teams to resolve clearance matters and keep shipments moving.

Description

  • Compile and preserve the records required for U.S. customs clearance
  • Complete import entry paperwork accurately and within required timelines
  • Keep customs clearance files current and properly maintained
  • Submit compliant entries once the sales process has concluded
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and government authorities
  • Respond to customer questions and address service issues
  • Investigate regulatory matters and support related inquiries
  • Track customs clearances, including rejected entries, through resolution
  • Complete and submit required customs forms
  • Respond to requests for customer information and official correspondence
  • Verify that freight documents are complete and approved before transport
  • Work across departments to support compliant import operations
  • Take part in continuing training for the Imports team
  • Stay current on industry regulations and carry out customs-related duties
  • Cover assigned accounts for other Customs Entry Writers when needed
  • Apply established operating policies, standards, and procedures
  • Adhere to company C-TPAT and TSA security requirements
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification
  • Five to seven years of Customs Entry Writing experience in the import/export sector
  • Familiarity with logistics platforms such as CargoWise
  • Working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
  • Advanced understanding of customs regulations and requirements from other government agencies
  • Ability to understand and interpret standard business documents
  • Ability to prepare routine reports and general business correspondence
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and explain basic concepts
  • Ability to interpret complex business and technical documents
  • Ability to produce thorough reports and detailed business correspondence
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and communicate established concepts
  • Ability to present information to groups of departmental stakeholders
  • Ability to resolve practical issues using standardized approaches and limited judgment
  • Ability to use prescribed, detailed processes to resolve routine problems
  • Ability to analyze problems involving varied concrete factors and apply semi-standardized solutions
  • Ability to make inferences and follow detailed procedures when addressing moderately complex problems
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening, random drug and alcohol testing, and a criminal background check
  • Authorization to work in the United States is required
  • Estes Forwarding Worldwide will not sponsor new employment authorization applicants for this position
  • No license or certification is required
