Clinical Research Study Assistant II, Neurology (Hybrid)

Support Alzheimer’s disease biomarker research at Washington University through participant recruitment, blood sample processing, clinical data collection, and study documentation. The role also includes eligibility screening, informed consent, follow-up scheduling, and coordination of laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

Description

  • Recruit study participants in accordance with approved protocols
  • Meet with participants to explain studies, assess eligibility, and obtain informed consent
  • Process blood specimens through centrifugation and plasma aliquoting
  • Record processing conditions and keep sample-location logs current
  • Complete study paperwork and protocol-required documentation
  • Interview study participants and arrange follow-up visits
  • Conduct basic or scripted eligibility assessments
  • Explain and schedule study-related laboratory, diagnostic, or treatment procedures
  • Direct participants to basic resources when appropriate
  • Gather information from participants, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic testing, and other sources
  • Conduct basic review and interpretation of collected data
  • Prepare study reports, documentation, packets, and informational materials
  • Handle additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma, equivalent certification, or a comparable combination of education and experience
  • Two years of administrative or research experience
  • Obtain Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire
  • Basic Life Support certification must include a hands-on skills assessment; online-only certifications without one do not qualify
  • Ability to work with research participants, families, and caregivers, including people with mild to moderate dementia and healthy control volunteers
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Preferred capabilities include interpersonal communication, oral communication, organization, and written communication
  • A driver’s license is not required
