Career Preparation Coordinator - Milwaukee, WI (Onsite)

Support Horizons Youth Services Job Corps students through academic instruction, career counseling, advanced training access, and employment placement. Build connections with employers, agencies, colleges, and transition services in Milwaukee.

Description

  • Teach preparatory academics, Career Technical Education fundamentals, Workplace Communications, Employability Skills, Information Technology, Health Education, driver’s education preparation, and CSS Standards
  • Support students pursuing advanced training opportunities
  • Help approved applicants complete college applications
  • Increase the number of student Pell grants secured
  • Create and assess Career Preparation curricula with vocational instructors and career transition staff
  • Plan classroom activities, maintain discipline, and promote student engagement
  • Maintain student files, records, attendance, evaluations, incident reports, and achievement awards
  • Participate in student evaluations and provide feedback on performance and employability skills
  • Deliver job development, placement, career counseling, and guidance services for students and graduates
  • Coordinate placement support with agencies and One Stop Centers
  • Provide up-to-date labor market information
  • Complete Job Corps Placement Assistance Records and other required documentation
  • Build relationships with employers, support-service agencies, and military recruiters
  • Conduct six- and twelve-month post-placement follow-up interviews
  • Help students pursue career goals, complete applications, prepare resumes, develop job-search skills, and build independent living skills
  • Schedule required tests, including ASVAB, ACT, and driver’s license examinations
  • Evaluate career-transition readiness and prepare students to use transition resources
  • Maintain graduate placement files in line with Department of Labor and Horizons Youth Services policies
  • Pursue performance goals, uphold housekeeping and safety practices, and model Career Success Standards

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with public speaking and strong presentation ability
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Computer literacy
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and periodic weekends
  • Willingness to travel periodically
  • Ability to satisfactorily perform all essential duties
