Business Development Director, Transmission & Distribution Technology — Netherlands (Hybrid)

Lead growth for DNV’s Transmission & Distribution technology business in the Netherlands. Build executive relationships, pursue complex opportunities, and support energy infrastructure modernization.

Description

  • Set and deliver the growth strategy for Transmission & Distribution services in the Netherlands and other markets
  • Find opportunities arising from grid expansion, renewable integration, and infrastructure modernization
  • Track regulatory, technology, and market changes affecting utilities and system operators
  • Develop new services in response to customer and market needs
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders at TSOs, DSOs, utilities, regulators, and infrastructure investors
  • Increase DNV’s presence across the Dutch energy ecosystem
  • Help customers address complex investment and grid expansion issues
  • Deepen strategic partnerships and uncover new sources of growth
  • Create and manage a robust pipeline of commercial opportunities
  • Lead complex, high-value pursuits from qualification to signed contract
  • Set bid strategies and make go/no-go recommendations
  • Bring together multidisciplinary teams to develop proposals
  • Negotiate and close strategic consulting and engineering engagements
  • Represent DNV at leading industry conferences and events
  • Deliver presentations and keynote addresses
  • Write articles and thought leadership materials
  • Take part in initiatives that shape the future of transmission and distribution networks
  • Collaborate with specialists in Power Equipment, Overhead Lines, Cable Systems, Power System Planning, and Grid Expansion Advisory
  • Turn customer needs into innovative solutions
  • Contribute to business planning and resource allocation
  • Sponsor major projects to support successful delivery and lasting customer value
  • Coach consultants and technical specialists on commercial understanding and customer engagement
  • Distribute market intelligence and industry knowledge across the organization
  • Help foster growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in business development, strategic sales, consulting leadership, or commercial management
  • Demonstrated success growing business in consulting, engineering, infrastructure, or energy
  • A strong record of securing complex, high-value opportunities
  • Experience creating and implementing growth strategies in technical settings
  • Deep knowledge of the Dutch Transmission & Distribution sector and its changing demands
  • Knowledge of grid expansion, high-voltage infrastructure, substations, overhead line systems, underground cable systems, power system planning, renewable integration, grid congestion, and energy infrastructure investment
  • An established network among TSOs, DSOs, utilities, engineering firms, regulators, and energy-sector stakeholders
  • The ability to anticipate market changes and convert them into commercial opportunities
  • Strong commercial judgment and analytical skills
  • Experience operating in complex stakeholder environments
  • An entrepreneurial mindset paired with strategic thinking
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities
  • The credibility to work effectively with technical specialists and executive decision-makers
  • Experience coaching and mentoring professionals
  • A collaborative leadership approach centered on sustainable growth
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, energy, business, or a related field
  • Fluency in Dutch and English
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Netherlands and Europe
  • Successful final candidates will undergo background checks
