AR Collections Accountant (Remote, India)
Manage cash application, customer collections, receivables close, reconciliations, and controls for Porch Group’s home software and insurance platform. Work with U.S. customer accounts remotely from India.
Description
- Apply incoming customer payments accurately and promptly
- Oversee more than 100 customer accounts each month and pursue overdue balances
- Communicate with U.S.-based customers to address collection concerns
- Coordinate with operations on contract and billing matters that affect collections
- Contribute to month-end and quarter-end accounts receivable closing activities
- Recommend improvements to collection workflows and procedures
- Independently handle professional accounting tasks within general accounting
- Review, monitor, and control accounts for accuracy, documentation, and compliance
- Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries and account reconciliations
- Handle ad hoc requests from management
- Work with managers and internal teams to preserve effective processes and controls
- Follow internal policies, applicable regulations, and accounting standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent corporate accounting experience
- At least two years of experience in corporate accounting or collections; additional experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including accrual and cash-basis accounting and accounts payable
- Previous experience managing a substantial customer-account portfolio in collections
- Strong written and spoken English, including polished customer-facing email communication
- Excellent attention to detail and organization, with the ability to balance competing priorities
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with U.S.-based business teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with NetSuite and FloQast, or a comparable enterprise resource planning or BlackLine system, is a plus
- CPA, CA, or ACCA certification is advantageous but not required
- Able to work independently in a fast-moving virtual environment
- Able to work eight hours excluding breaks, including four core U.S.-overlap hours from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. IST and four flexible IST hours
- Dedicated quiet workspace with an internet connection providing at least 30 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload
