Adjunct Software Engineering Curriculum Consultant at ALU, Rwanda Hybrid

ALU is seeking an adjunct consultant to redesign its Software Engineering degree programme. The role covers curriculum, assessment and industry alignment across Rwanda and Mauritius.

Description

  • Review, refine, design and validate the Software Engineering curriculum against project plans and timelines
  • Perform gap analyses using global education standards, industry needs and emerging technology trends
  • Evaluate learning outcomes, graduate attributes, course sequencing, assessments and competency frameworks, then recommend improvements
  • Align the curriculum with Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Software Architecture, Secure Software Development, Product Engineering and related disciplines
  • Benchmark the programme against leading international Software Engineering and Computing degrees
  • Update course specifications, learning outcomes, assessment approaches, practical activities and programme documentation
  • Work with academic leaders, learning designers and industry stakeholders to validate curriculum recommendations and changes
  • Ensure curriculum content reflects industry practice, future workforce requirements and technological progress
  • Support quality assurance, accreditation and periodic programme reviews through documented, evidence-based recommendations
  • Take part in curriculum workshops, stakeholder consultations and validation sessions
  • Report progress against project milestones and deliverables
  • Contribute to programme handbooks, curriculum guides and related academic materials
  • Assist the Programme Manager with implementing approved curriculum improvements
  • Carry out other reasonable duties connected with the curriculum review and redesign project
  • Comply with ALU’s safeguarding policy and zero-tolerance approach to safeguarding violations

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing or a closely related field, plus equivalent experience
  • At least 7 years of combined academic or industry experience in Software Engineering or related computing disciplines
  • Proven experience designing, reviewing, developing or revising undergraduate Computing, Software Engineering or related degree programmes or curricula
  • Strong command of Software Engineering principles, development methodologies and modern software delivery practices
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas: Cybersecurity; Cloud Computing, including AWS, Azure or Google Cloud; Software Architecture and Distributed Systems; Secure Software Development; Generative AI and AI Engineering; Product Engineering; Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Data Engineering and Analytics; DevOps and Platform Engineering; or Full-Stack Software Development
  • Experience connecting academic curricula with industry needs, future-skills frameworks and workforce trends
  • Experience defining programme learning outcomes, competency frameworks and assessment strategies
  • Experience conducting curriculum mapping, programme reviews and academic quality assurance
  • Experience creating experiential and project-based learning that supports collaboration, innovation and practical problem-solving
  • Experience reviewing or developing undergraduate capstone projects and work-integrated learning
  • Familiarity with online, blended or technology-enabled learning environments
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and documentation capabilities
  • Strong time management, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality deliverables
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse academic and industry stakeholders
  • Growth mindset and enthusiasm for innovation in higher education and technology
