Actuarial Analyst, Small Business Workers’ Compensation at The Hartford

Support The Hartford’s workers’ compensation rate filings, pricing strategy, and state-level recommendations. Collaborate with Product, IT, and actuarial teams on filings, product changes, and pricing analysis.

Description

  • Process state rate filings and help execute rate plans
  • Create improvements that make the state filing process more efficient
  • Work with Product to explain the factors driving rate-level changes
  • Support Product with enhancements and new products that strengthen workers’ compensation competitiveness
  • Complete ad hoc analyses and projects aligned with business priorities
  • Help update annual indication assumptions and document the underlying information sources
  • Forecast quarterly dividend payments and present the results to the dividend committee
  • Share knowledge and project insights across the workers’ compensation pricing team
  • Prepare state-level recommendations for rate changes
  • Develop filing strategies and support their execution
  • Collaborate directly with Product, IT, and multiple actuarial groups

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or a related discipline
  • Pursuing an actuarial Associate or Fellowship designation, with at least one exam passed
  • Prior actuarial experience in property and casualty insurance
  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities
  • Required proficiency in Excel
  • R or Python experience preferred
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication
  • Self-directed approach with a consistent focus on creating value
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple teams
