Accounts Receivable Specialist - Houston, TX (Onsite)

Process customer payments and resolve discrepancies for Tejas Materials. Maintain accurate accounts receivable records from the Houston office.

Description

  • Apply customer payments accurately
  • Resolve payment discrepancies promptly
  • Post customer payments received by cash, check, credit card, and online portal
  • Record checks, deposits, and Received on Account payments
  • Retrieve and post Lockbox payments
  • Correct payment errors from counter sales
  • Inform the Credit Department about unapplied cash and short payments
  • Support month-end closing for all accounts receivable
  • Help process customer refund checks
  • Support projects and tasks assigned by the Credit and Accounting department
  • Report to the AR Manager or Supervisor
  • Carry out other assigned duties

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to three years of related credit or accounts receivable experience preferred
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Effective communication with customers, employees, and management by phone, email, and in person
  • Ability to analyze financial information and reconcile accounts
  • Ability to protect confidential company and customer information
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screen, where permitted by law
