  • Oversee overnight activities in a community living setting
  • Provide individual and group support to people receiving services
  • Teach skills that promote independence and quality of life
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and clean residential environment
  • Help implement treatment plans, including ISP/PSTPs and clinical programs
  • Contribute to treatment planning when needed
  • Maintain records, gather behavioral and academic data, and complete progress notes
  • Record incidents, programs, and routine activities in the communication log
  • Support activities of daily living, including showering, hygiene, dressing, and household chores
  • Deliver and document fire and safety training
  • Monitor physical and emotional needs and report changes to the supervisor
  • Store, administer, document, and dispose of medication according to MAC requirements, regulations, and company policy
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings
  • Support orientation for new staff members
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations
  • Follow corporate and divisional policies, safe work practices, workers’ compensation requirements, universal precautions, and exposure control procedures
  • Complete hands-on program duties, housekeeping, snow removal, garbage removal, and site maintenance
  • Provide transportation when necessary
  • Maintain required staff-to-person-served ratios and provide last-minute coverage
  • Deliver physical intervention or first aid during behavioral or medical emergencies
  • Report relevant concerns to the Disabled Persons Protections Commission
  • Remain awake, attentive, and fully dressed throughout the shift
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

  • Three months to one year of experience in a related role
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid US driver’s license at the time of employment
  • At least 21 years of age
  • US driver’s license held for at least six months
  • Adequate insurance and a safe driving record when using a personal vehicle
  • Ability to pass a driver screening background check
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb
  • Ability to lift at least 25 pounds using proper technique or a two-person lift
  • Ability to use a computer, calculator, copier, and printer
  • Ability to sit, reach, climb stairs, and navigate narrow spaces or hallways
  • Ability to assist clients with activities of daily living
  • Ability to speak, hear, and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives
  • Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision, with the ability to adjust focus
  • Obtain CPR certification within two weeks of hire
  • Obtain First Aid certification within two weeks of hire
  • MAC certification and compliance with Connecticut guidelines
  • Obtain Safety Care certification within 60 days of hire
  • Understanding of varied communication styles
  • Understanding of empowerment and self-advocacy methods
  • Understanding of participatory planning methods
  • Understanding of crisis intervention methods
  • Teaching ability
  • Ability to work independently and with an interdisciplinary team
  • Sensitivity to cultural, religious, racial, disability, and gender-related concerns
