Software Engineering Manager - United Kingdom Remote
Lead a Flex engineering team at ENSEK, building cloud-native SaaS solutions for energy retailers. Drive technical quality, dependable delivery, team development, and scalable software for the energy transition.
Descriere
- Lead a team of approximately 7–8 engineers in Flex
- Report to the Engineering Director
- Build a high-performing engineering culture that supports growth, wellbeing, and meaningful customer outcomes
- Coach engineers, challenge technical decisions, improve engineering quality, and work with Product to shape solutions
- Deepen collaboration between Engineering and Product
- Contribute to the future team structure as the Flex and DSR organisations come together
- Recruit strong engineers and support their development through 1:1s, coaching, and career pathways
- Own sprint planning, backlog prioritisation, and delivery in partnership with Product
- Promote strong practices across design, testing, code review, and CI/CD
- Guide architectural decisions and work with architects and SRE to build scalable, secure, observable systems
- Work with Product, UX, Data, and SRE on priorities, acceptance criteria, and releases
- Prepare teams for on-call, lead blameless post-incident reviews, improve runbooks, monitoring, and alerting, and embed SLIs/SLOs
- Reduce delivery friction, automate manual work, and encourage experimentation, continuous improvement, and innovation
Cerințe
- At least three years of experience managing engineers, including hiring, coaching, and team development
- Experience delivering production microservices or cloud-native applications on public cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Working knowledge of automated pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and container orchestration such as Kubernetes
- Experience leading test strategy, automated testing, and code quality improvements
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, and incident management practices
- Clear communication skills and the ability to influence Product, Design, SRE, and senior leadership
- Strong coding experience in at least one modern language: Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, or C#
- Familiarity with system design and software architecture patterns
