Remote Associate General Counsel, Construction Contracts

Lead complex construction contract negotiations and resolve disputes for Design Group, Barry-Wehmiller’s U.S. architecture, engineering, and construction firm. Advise on enterprise risk across project delivery.

Descriere

  • Direct contract negotiations and risk oversight for design and construction projects.
  • Negotiate complex design, EPC, design-build, and construction management agreements with clients and project partners.
  • Draft and revise AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, and owner-prepared agreements.
  • Lead negotiations with the Executive Team, Project Leadership, and Procurement.
  • Manage the firm’s contract and template library.
  • Advise project teams on risk reduction, project selection, and delivery methods.
  • Contribute to business development through contract strategy and direct client engagement.
  • Advise teams on legal and risk issues from project kickoff through closeout.
  • Handle dispute resolution, including client discussions, liens, mediation, arbitration, litigation, and settlements.
  • Work with insurers and outside counsel on professional liability, builder’s risk, and other construction insurance matters.
  • Support licensing, corporate governance, and risk strategy across Design Group entities.

Cerințe

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • License to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • At least five years of legal experience supporting construction, commercial contracts, or project delivery.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating design-build, EPC, and construction management agreements.
  • Working knowledge of construction insurance, including professional liability.
  • Availability to travel up to 15%.
  • Preferred: Experience with architecture, engineering, construction management, or EPC organizations.
  • Preferred: Experience with AIA, EJCDC, ConsensusDocs, DBIA, or owner-prepared contract forms.
