AI-First Android Developer at OPENLANE

Build Android experiences for OPENLANE’s digital wholesale vehicle marketplace. Develop Kotlin features, Compose interfaces, tests, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Descriere

  • Develop Android features for seller and buyer marketplace experiences.
  • Build Jetpack Compose interfaces with clear state and event handling, and maintain legacy XML where needed.
  • Write unit tests and meet team CI standards for formatting and coverage.
  • Use AI tools to speed up coding, testing, and debugging, and verify their output before merging.
  • Work with Product, Design, backend and platform engineering, QA, senior Android engineers, and iOS teams.
  • Learn and implement shared platform features, including feature flags, analytics, and authentication, with senior guidance.
  • Use AI-assisted methods for coding, refactoring, test generation, debugging, root-cause analysis, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Take on increasing end-to-end responsibility for feature reliability and operational health.
  • Report to the Mobile Engineering Manager.

Cerințe

  • At least 3 years of professional Android development experience, or equivalent depth.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin.
  • Experience releasing at least one Android app to production.
  • An AI-first approach and active use of AI development tools, with critical evaluation of their output.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose and/or XML Views.
  • Experience with Coroutines, basic dependency injection using Hilt, ViewModels, and StateFlow-style UI state.
  • Experience with REST networking and basic local persistence.
  • Familiarity with feature flags and mobile analytics.
  • Unit testing experience, such as MockK and Turbine, and willingness to develop UI and instrumentation testing skills.
  • Comfort working with CI, tests, and code review.
  • Preferred: production experience with Compose; exposure to Hilt, Room, WorkManager, or CameraX; marketplace or e-commerce mobile experience; or familiarity with hybrid WebView surfaces.
