Technical Consulting Director, EHS Auditing and Risk

Lead EHS audits, risk management, and sustainability work for ERM, advising clients in high-hazard industries. The role supports compliance and operational performance through consulting, project leadership, and client engagement.

Apraksts

  • Lead EHS compliance, management system, and sustainability audits independently or with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Create strategies, processes, and tools to strengthen client EHS programs and support lasting operational excellence.
  • Help ERM’s Safe and Sustainable Operations team address international mining standards, including ICMM, CopperMark, the Cyanide Code, and TSM.
  • Oversee national and global projects, prioritizing safety, efficiency, quality, and client service.
  • Provide training, on-site coaching, and presentations to build organizational knowledge and capability.
  • Cultivate client relationships that support repeat engagements, trusted partnerships, and long-term growth.
  • Work across ERM’s global network to share practices, draw on technical expertise, and create solutions to complex EHS challenges.
  • Advise clients, conduct thorough audits, and shape risk management strategies to improve compliance, EHS performance, and sustainability.

Prasības

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, sustainability, health and safety science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of EHS experience in consulting or industry, ideally including work in Canada and internationally.
  • Ability to evaluate EHS management systems in high-hazard sectors such as mining, oil and gas, petrochemicals, pulp and paper, and power generation.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian EHS regulations.
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and managing EHS risks.
  • Experience leading incident investigations and root cause analyses.
  • Experience leading EHS audits.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage senior leaders and frontline teams.
  • Willingness to travel for audits lasting multiple days.
  • Valid driver’s license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in environmental, sustainability, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: At least 12 years of EHS experience in consulting or industry, ideally including work in Canada and internationally.
  • Lead auditor training in ISO-based standards such as ISO 19011, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • Professional credentials such as EP (EMS LA), EP (CEA), CSRP, P.Eng., or similar.
  • Familiarity with data analytics and digital EHS solutions.
  • Bilingual ability in French, Spanish, and/or English.
  • Demonstrated ownership and initiative.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and make decisions with incomplete information.
  • High emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Ability to influence and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, with examples of learning from experience.
  • Practical understanding of how technology and data can improve EHS performance and operational effectiveness.
