Lead Software Engineer, Payments

Apraksts

  • Lead and develop a team of payments engineers.
  • Coach engineers through technical guidance, feedback, and career support.
  • Direct hiring and team formation for payments engineering.
  • Hold regular one-to-ones and manage goals, performance reviews, and career progression.
  • Promote shared, well-documented payments expertise.
  • Represent payments engineering in leadership and cross-functional forums.
  • Define technical direction and long-term architecture for payment services.
  • Guide gateway integrations, payment authorization, capture and refunds, payouts, and reconciliation.
  • Manage onboarding and KYC integrations, merchant setup, settlement instructions, deductions, and invoicing.
  • Ensure reliable movement-of-funds foundations, including idempotency, ledgers, events, and audit trails.
  • Set the strategy for payment service provider and partner integrations.
  • Oversee dispute, chargeback, and fraud workflows.
  • Work closely with Product, Legal and Compliance, Finance, and Support.
  • Strengthen automated testing, controlled releases, observability, and incident response.

Prasības

  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring software engineers, including hiring, performance management, and career development.
  • Strong backend experience with distributed systems, including microservices, asynchronous processing, resilient APIs, and eventual consistency.
  • Production experience managing payment flows such as authorization, capture, refunds, webhooks, and reconciliation.
  • Knowledge of financial integrity practices, including idempotency keys, double-entry principles, and auditability.
  • Security expertise covering PCI compliance, personal data protection, secrets management, least privilege, and secure coding.
  • Experience in Azure-centered environments using APIs, queues or event systems, and monitoring.
  • Strong automated testing and CI/CD practices.
  • Confident communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders in high-stakes situations.
  • Sound judgment in balancing team capacity, technical debt, and business needs.
  • Experience scaling or reorganizing an engineering team during growth or organizational change.
  • Experience with sub-merchant, marketplace, or payment-facilitator operating models.
  • Familiarity with dispute tools, card network rules, 3DS or risk rules, or fraud platforms.
  • Experience working with Legal, Compliance, or Finance leaders on regulatory or audit requirements.
