Database Consultant – SQL Server and Cloud Migration

Provide database administration and consulting services to Fortified Data’s global clients. Work spans performance tuning, migrations, high availability, cloud databases, and disaster recovery.

Apraksts

  • Deliver consulting engagements across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, and Azure SQL, covering performance tuning, upgrades, consolidations, and platform migrations.
  • Implement and test high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Availability Groups, log shipping, replication, and failover cluster instances.
  • Assess database health, then document findings and recommendations for clients.
  • Move databases between on-premises environments and Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, including Azure SQL Managed Instance and Amazon RDS.
  • Join discovery calls with account executives and senior consultants, explain technical options clearly, and help define project scope.
  • Provide technical content and effort estimates for proposals and statements of work.
  • Resolve technical issues during client engagements and involve senior consultants when needed.
  • Create and maintain scripts and documentation for database builds, schema changes, and task automation.
  • Keep clients and internal project teams informed about status, risks, and blockers.
  • Identify potential follow-on work, including Managed Services needs, and refer it to the account team.
  • Meet annual goals for billable utilization, client satisfaction, Professional Services opportunities, and growth in platform skills and certifications.

Prasības

  • At least four years of experience in database administration or database engineering.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and hands-on experience with at least one of PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Experience tuning performance through indexing, query optimization, and wait analysis.
  • Experience implementing or supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with cloud database services such as Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, or Amazon RDS.
  • Scripting experience with T-SQL and PowerShell or a comparable language.
  • Experience communicating directly with clients or business stakeholders.
  • Candidates must be able to provide evidence of legal authorization to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Experience in consulting, professional services, or managed services while supporting multiple clients at once.
  • Exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Experience taking part in sales discussions, discovery calls, or proposal development.
  • Certifications from Microsoft, AWS, or PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with ITSM and time tracking tools such as Zendesk and Harvest.
