Web Content Specialist (Hybrid, Virginia)

Manage Drupal, SharePoint, and Google Sites content for a federal IT and management solutions firm, with responsibility for SEO, Section 508 compliance, approvals, maintenance, and staff training.

Description

  • Create and revise web content, user guides, and pages for transportation research and development websites, SharePoint, and Google Sites
  • Publish and maintain approved content on agency websites and intranets through Drupal
  • Coordinate content reviews and approvals with client representatives and external contributors
  • Improve content for search visibility and maintain Section 508 compliance, including image alternative text
  • Edit web images by cropping, recoloring, resizing, and preparing compliant graphics
  • Coordinate quarterly certifications and track them to ensure content remains current
  • Repair broken links and carry out routine website maintenance
  • Monitor pages to verify scheduled updates are published
  • Recommend enhancements to readability, structure, and navigation
  • Perform quality checks on data and content
  • Edit, organize, and filter database records while supporting public-release tracking and data-access activities
  • Create and deliver outreach training for staff
  • Develop training materials with presentation software
  • Assess internal and external Google Sites and SharePoint structures and recommend communication enhancements
  • Coordinate related processes and procedures
  • Report to the Engagement Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, marketing, business, or a related field
  • Five to seven years of web content management experience, including three years within the past five years
  • Ability to obtain a public trust clearance
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Background in writing and editing
  • Experience developing and revising effective training materials
  • Experience with presentation software
  • Experience performing quality control on data and content
  • Experience delivering outreach training to staff
  • Experience with Drupal and other content management systems
  • Professional web experience
  • Ability to crop, recolor, resize, and otherwise edit web images with graphic applications
  • Transportation experience, particularly in surface transportation research, preferred
  • Knowledge of safety and operations, autonomous vehicles, human factors, roadway design, materials, and bridge engineering preferred
