Storyboard Artist – 3D Animation (Hybrid)

Create detailed storyboards for Kickstart Entertainment’s animation productions, shaping visual storytelling, pacing, staging, and revisions. Work closely with Directors to develop scenes and solve creative and production challenges.

Description

  • Create complete storyboards with action, dialogue, camera direction, cuts, and scene continuity
  • Partner with the Director to establish the series’ visual style and tone
  • Attend weekly creative calls when required
  • Develop and communicate visual solutions for scripts and technical constraints
  • Advise the Director on the feasibility of comedic and dramatic moments, offering creative alternatives
  • Present thumbnails and rough storyboards to the Director
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve creative or technical challenges
  • Follow established templates, formatting, naming, and workflow standards
  • Incorporate Director feedback and revisions
  • Deliver work on schedule and flag potential delays early
  • Back up and save artwork correctly while preparing materials on time
  • Maintain respectful, professional relationships with colleagues, staff, partners, and clients
  • Coordinate with multiple productions and departments
  • Support development and other studio design needs when available
  • Mentor Junior artists when needed
  • Contribute to studio workflow and process discussions
  • Help foster a positive team environment consistent with Kickstart’s Core Values

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of storyboarding experience in 3D animation
  • Exceptional drawing ability with a strong sense of appeal, design, character, and composition
  • Solid command of storytelling principles and techniques
  • Strong visual storytelling, staging, and composition skills
  • Strong posing, acting, and comedic and dramatic timing
  • Effective creative problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency with Storyboard Pro
  • Ability to pitch ideas clearly and translate scripts into visuals
  • Collaborative, communicative, and receptive to feedback
  • Understanding of CG animation workflows and production constraints
  • Careful attention to detail and consistency with formatting and naming standards
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with comedy or action-focused content is an asset
