Staff Electrical Engineer – Medical Devices | Stryker

Develop and validate electronic hardware for Stryker Medical emergency devices. Lead PCB, embedded systems, integration, verification, and compliance activities from concept through commercialization.

Description

  • Convert user and clinical needs into design inputs, product specifications, and hardware solutions.
  • Engineer complex embedded and electronic systems using low-power microcontrollers, analog and digital circuits, communication interfaces, and power-management architectures.
  • Prepare and maintain schematics, electrical design records, and bills of materials with industry-standard EDA tools.
  • Direct PCB design and layout while addressing signal integrity, power integrity, thermal behavior, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct board bring-up, hands-on debugging, testing, and root-cause analysis with advanced laboratory equipment.
  • Plan and perform hardware verification, including test planning, DFMEA, design controls, risk management, and compliance records.
  • Choose and integrate sensors, motors, actuators, and other electromechanical components.
  • Partner with firmware, software, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, clinical, and other cross-functional teams throughout development.
  • Advance medical-device products from initial concept to launch using customer feedback, clinical input, and market requirements.
  • Maintain alignment with medical-device standards, regulatory obligations, quality systems, and Design History File documentation while mentoring colleagues on sound engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • At least four years of experience in electrical hardware design and product development.
  • Background designing, developing, testing, and troubleshooting electronic systems and circuits.
  • Proficiency with tools used for electrical schematics, circuit design, and analysis.
  • Strong command of electrical fundamentals, components, and system-level design principles.
  • Experience with embedded hardware, microcontrollers, analog and digital circuitry, communication interfaces, and power management.
  • Practical experience with PCB design, layout, board bring-up, and hardware debugging.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, thermal management, and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience integrating sensors, actuators, motors, and electromechanical systems.
  • Medical-device development experience covering design controls, risk management, DFMEA, verification and validation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience contributing to cross-functional product development from concept through commercialization.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, quality systems, and Design History File documentation.
