Software Engineer II, Data Integration and Ingestion – Hybrid India

Build Python backend services and ingestion pipelines that connect third-party data sources to Abnormal Security’s platform. Improve integration reliability, data freshness, and downstream capabilities in a hybrid India-based role.

Description

  • Develop secure, scalable integrations that collect data through third-party APIs and deliver it reliably to downstream systems.
  • Lead complex, well-defined features from requirements clarification and technical planning through implementation, testing, rollout, and outcome measurement.
  • Expand ingestion-platform capabilities through reusable connector patterns, self-service integration workflows, and snapshot and event-ingestion paths.
  • Apply AI-assisted tools to integration development, testing, and troubleshooting while reviewing results and preserving production quality.
  • Increase ingestion freshness, accuracy, and reliability by setting service-level goals, improving error handling and alerting, and investigating data gaps or delays.
  • Troubleshoot issues spanning vendor APIs, ingestion services, and downstream interfaces; join the on-call rotation and convert recurring problems into lasting fixes.
  • Work asynchronously with engineering and product or platform partners across teams, contributing to design discussions, code reviews, and documentation of system changes.

  • At least three years of software engineering experience, including hands-on development of production backend services in Python.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex feature delivery from technical design through successful launch.
  • Strong knowledge of backend architecture, APIs, data modeling, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Experience operating production services and using logs, metrics, and alerts to investigate and resolve incidents.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment practices, preferably AWS.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to resolve ambiguous requirements with teammates and cross-functional stakeholders across time zones.
  • A strong focus on correctness, code quality, and the customer impact of reliable data.
  • Preferred: experience with Go, Kafka, or another messaging system, as well as distributed data pipelines.
  • Preferred: experience integrating third-party SaaS APIs, including authentication, pagination, rate limits, and inconsistent source data.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Docker or comparable container technologies and SQL databases.
  • Preferred: experience with batch or snapshot ingestion, workflow orchestration, or configuration-driven integration frameworks.

Benefits

  • Participation in the team’s on-call rotation.
