Software Engineer I, Embedded Systems – RTX, Hybrid Aguadilla

Develop embedded software and production test tools for Collins Aerospace navigation, timing, and defense programs. This hybrid position supports military applications in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

Description

  • Contribute to the design, development, and testing of real-time embedded software for navigation and timing systems used in military ground, airborne, and maritime applications.
  • Support the full software development lifecycle, from requirements review and design through coding, integration, verification, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain production test software with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Create automated test scripts and foundational driver components.
  • Assist with data collection, test execution, and troubleshooting.
  • Help verify and validate test software against program and quality requirements.
  • Support configuration control and version management activities.
  • Work with systems, hardware, and test engineers to achieve reliable hardware-software integration.
  • Take part in Agile ceremonies.
  • Use sound engineering practices, problem-solving, and continuous learning to deliver quality software.

Requirements

  • A STEM degree is typically required, along with less than two years of relevant experience.
  • Professional English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • U.S. citizenship is required because program and contract information may be accessed only by U.S. citizens.
  • Familiarity with software development principles and the Software Development Life Cycle is preferred.
  • Exposure to embedded software or hardware-focused projects through coursework, internships, or personal work is preferred.
  • Basic programming experience in C, C++, Python, or a comparable language is preferred.
  • Experience with or academic exposure to Linux, Windows development environments, or tools such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, Jira, DOORS, or Jama is preferred.
  • Awareness of Agile practices, CI/CD concepts, or DevSecOps principles is preferred.
  • Interest in hardware-software integration and technical troubleshooting is preferred.
