Senior Technical Business Analyst, Dynamics 365 F&O — Caterpillar, Irving, TX (Onsite)
Lead analysis and delivery for Caterpillar’s Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations systems in collaboration with product owners, developers, and business stakeholders. Translate operational needs into scalable solutions, guide testing and releases, and support production outcomes.
Description
- Coordinate across product owners, business stakeholders, developers, architects, testers, and support teams to identify, track, and communicate design, development, testing, support, and maintenance issues and resolutions
- Respond to customer and field-support inquiries while providing technical guidance on product integration and infrastructure concerns
- Help product owners convert business and process needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, functional specifications, technical considerations, data requirements, and delivery-ready backlog items
- Work with developers throughout design and build activities to clarify requirements, provide business context, surface edge cases, assess system impacts, and inform solution decisions
- Analyze Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations configuration choices, integrations, data entities, workflows, security effects, reporting requirements, and downstream dependencies
- Contribute to backlog refinement, sprint planning, functional validation, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, defect triage, release readiness, and post-deployment support
- Create documentation, design notes, walkthroughs, demonstrations, and stakeholder updates that explain business value, technical tradeoffs, decisions, risks, and next actions
- Establish business objectives, priorities, and requirements for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations implementations, enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and production support
- Review existing processes, identify capability gaps, and recommend Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations improvements
- Partner with development teams to confirm feasibility, dependencies, and readiness of proposed solutions
- Support solution validation, release planning, and documentation while preserving traceability in Azure DevOps, SharePoint, and Confluence
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations modules, configuration, workflows, batch jobs, business events, and feature management
- Ability to assess technical designs, data mappings, security implications, integrations, and exception scenarios
- Understanding of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations data entities, Data Management Framework, OData, APIs, and integration approaches
- Proficiency in data analysis, including SQL interpretation, validation, troubleshooting, reconciliation, and reporting support
- Understanding of role-based security, segregation of duties, and access implications in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations
- Experience with Azure DevOps or comparable tools for managing backlogs, tests, traceability, and delivery progress
- Knowledge of finance and operations processes including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, assets, cash, procurement, inventory, supply chain, order-to-cash, and procure-to-pay
- Experience supporting Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations solution design across configuration, security, workflows, data, integrations, reporting, and environments
- Familiarity with Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations architecture and development concepts, including X++, extensions, metadata, source control, CI/CD, and deployments
- Exposure to integration tools and patterns including Azure services, REST APIs, JSON, XML, authentication, and Postman
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools such as Power BI, SSRS, Electronic Reporting, dashboards, and data validation
- Familiarity with Lifecycle Services, release and environment management, testing, issue resolution, and production support
- Experience contributing to full-lifecycle Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations implementations in an architecture, solution, or comparable role
- Experience with finance transformation, ERP strategy, operating models, or systems roadmaps
- Experience supporting users, improving support practices, coordinating partners, or training cross-functional teams
- Experience adapting ERP platforms for legal entities, acquisitions, restructuring, or comparable organizational change
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 certification is preferred but not required
- Visa sponsorship is unavailable for this position
