Senior Structural Engineer, Bridges and Transportation

Lead bridge and transportation infrastructure design at AMT Engineering, an employee-owned firm. Oversee complex projects, client engagement, quality control, and team development.

Description

  • Lead technical delivery for bridge and structural engineering projects
  • Plan, direct, and track multidisciplinary projects ranging from mid-sized to large, along with technically complex bridge assignments
  • Build client relationships and contribute to marketing, contract, design, and production meetings
  • Lead work sessions for schematic designs, design development, and contract documents
  • Verify that project deliverables and supporting records are complete and meet applicable standards and client and AMT requirements
  • Manage staffing and workloads throughout project development to keep documents on schedule
  • Partner with the Business/Accounting Manager and Discipline/Managing Director during project reviews
  • Apply QA/QC procedures and review bridge plans
  • Deliver training and professional development for staff
  • Mentor and oversee less experienced Project Managers
  • Maintain active professional engineering registration
  • Lead the design of highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, load ratings, and related structures
  • Support structural transportation work for state DOTs, counties, municipalities, and private clients
  • Coordinate with other offices on projects located in additional states

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or eligibility to obtain one through reciprocity within six months of hire
  • At least 15 years of project and client management experience, including substantial project work and established client contacts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Proven business development and strategic planning capabilities
  • Strong communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring abilities
  • Excellent organization, project management, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to conduct hands-on bridge condition inspections and work at heights
  • Preferred experience with LEAP Bridge Enterprise, LARSA 4D, LPile, MDX, Descus, AASHTOWare BrR, Merlin DASH, spColumn, PennDOT software, Bentley MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads/Bridge
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed, including occasional weekly travel
  • Successful completion of a post-offer, pre-employment background check
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and traverse unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment
  • Ability to perform field work in extreme heat, cold, or inclement weather
