Description

  • Manage moderately complex litigation and cases with moderately high exposure.
  • Assess substantive, procedural, legal, and factual issues.
  • Research the law and develop and present defense strategies.
  • Draft pleadings, written discovery, deposition materials, motions, and briefs.
  • Advise clients and claims partners on legal matters and services.
  • Communicate with courts, clients, claims partners, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.
  • Resolve assigned cases promptly and effectively.
  • Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, hearings, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Provide legal opinions to attorneys, staff, clients, and claims customers.

Requirements

  • Hold a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice in New York State.
  • Be a member in good standing of the New York State Bar Association.
  • Have at least seven years of insurance defense legal experience.
  • Know the local courts.
  • Demonstrate strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities and time.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, computer, and technology skills.
  • Be able to adopt new AI tools quickly.
  • Show expertise and familiarity with claims handling and litigation.
  • Admission to practice in federal courts is preferred.
