Senior Software Engineer, Pricing - United Kingdom Remote

Build backend pricing APIs for tem’s AI-powered electricity transaction platform. Improve the speed, accuracy, reliability, and explainability of pricing for energy contracts.

Description

  • Design and deliver core Pricing API components from initial concept through production
  • Unify pricing logic within a single service while preserving established pricing behavior
  • Develop detection and alerting to identify inaccurate or delayed prices before customer impact
  • Create self-service explanations that help the commercial team understand unpriceable contracts
  • Improve the measurable speed of customer quoting
  • Develop backend systems that price live energy contracts for businesses and renewable generators
  • Add robust error handling, observability, and alerting to support reliable, explainable pricing
  • Move pricing logic into the pricing engine so it owns its behavior end to end
  • Respond to live pricing questions and incidents, converting lessons learned into lasting fixes

Requirements

  • Hands-on production experience with backend Python, including shipping, operating, and supporting APIs when they fail
  • Working knowledge of FastAPI and SQL
  • Experience building data-intensive or analytics-heavy systems where numerical accuracy is critical
  • Strong product engineering judgment
  • Daily experience using Claude or a comparable AI coding assistant to write, test, and review code
  • Ability to lead projects end to end, from scope definition through delivery and quality assurance
  • Desirable: knowledge of fintech, energy pricing, neo-utilities, or ad-tech domains
  • Desirable: experience working within or alongside machine learning teams
  • Desirable: familiarity with AWS and serverless architectures, including Lambda, event-driven services, and Postgres on RDS
  • Desirable: experience with Polars or optimizing numerical code
