Description

  • Own substantial features and services from initial design through delivery and post-release production follow-up
  • Translate unclear problem statements into technical solutions, delivery plans, and clearly stated trade-offs
  • Partner with Product Managers to analyse PRDs, decompose stories, define acceptance criteria, and establish success measures
  • Make and document design decisions across data models, APIs, background processing, failure handling, caching, and concurrency
  • Assess architectural, security, reliability, and delivery risks, escalating decisions that exceed your remit
  • Build security controls around trust boundaries, data protection, third-party dependencies, and secrets
  • Strengthen team-owned systems through better testing, observability, architectural boundaries, and reliability safeguards
  • Diagnose challenging technical and production problems, lead incident response, and complete postmortem follow-up actions
  • Set technical direction through code reviews and design reviews
  • Support less experienced engineers with pairing, mentoring, and practical guidance
  • Keep technical implementation aligned with customer needs and business objectives
  • Work across team boundaries whenever the work requires broader coordination

  • Demonstrated ownership of complex initiatives from ambiguous initial problem through production release
  • Strong knowledge of multi-tenant architecture, including tenant isolation, data partitioning, and noisy-neighbour protection
  • Well-grounded understanding of data structures, algorithms, and systems thinking
  • Advanced relational database experience covering schema design, query optimisation, indexing, and data consistency
  • Practical experience with modern API design, automated testing, CI/CD, and production observability through logs, metrics, and traces
  • Pragmatic, language-independent engineering approach, with modern PHP as the primary backend language
  • Curiosity and a sustained commitment to learning
  • Collaborative, candid, and considerate communication style
  • Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to both engineers and non-engineers
