Description

  • Develop reliable, well-tested code for complex technical scenarios
  • Evaluate product requirements and turn them into resilient system designs
  • Build distributed applications that are modular, configurable, reusable, efficient, secure, compliant, scalable, maintainable, and easy to use
  • Direct design and code reviews across multiple applications
  • Guide the sprint team in delivering new and enhanced capabilities
  • Remove obstacles that affect the sprint backlog and the delivery of quality solutions
  • Partner with teams and stakeholders to deliver the intended functionality successfully
  • Mentor engineers and offer practical technical direction
  • Promote innovation and engineering excellence across Mercury

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least five years of software programming experience
  • At least two years of experience with technologies used at Mercury
  • At least one year of experience leading and mentoring engineering teams
  • Proficiency in one or more industry-standard programming languages, such as Java, Python, Go, C++, or JavaScript
  • Experience applying data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
  • Proficiency with relational databases, NoSQL systems, and caching technologies
  • Experience developing APIs with modern protocols such as REST and gRPC
  • Proficiency with messaging, streaming, workflow, and integration frameworks, including Apache Kafka, Apache NiFi, Amazon SQS, MS MQ, or Apache Camel
  • Working knowledge of microservices architecture
  • Experience using containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proficiency applying DevSecOps practices to improve engineering efficiency
  • Experience designing and implementing high-quality distributed applications
  • Ability to use analytics and experimentation data to design and enhance systems
  • Strong problem-solving capability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Leadership experience demonstrated through mentoring and technical guidance
  • Experience shaping technical strategy and vision for a team
