Senior Software Development Engineer, AI Coding Agents (Hybrid)

Lead AI-assisted engineering for JiffyShirts.com’s e-commerce platform, coordinating multiple coding agents and delivering production features end to end. Work across Rails, GraphQL, React, Kubernetes, testing, reliability, and internal developer tooling.

Description

  • Coordinate Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or comparable AI coding agents across 3–6 parallel workstreams
  • Take features from product intent and technical specifications through agent planning, implementation, review, QA, merge, and production validation
  • Architect dependable, scalable systems using Rails 8 and Solidus, GraphQL, React 19, and Kubernetes
  • Audit AI-produced code for fabricated APIs, security issues, non-idiomatic patterns, and unsound architecture
  • Create and improve internal AI development tools, including skills, rules, prompts, MCP integrations, and evaluation harnesses
  • Help maintain the shared .ai skills and rules library
  • Expand meaningful automated coverage with RSpec, Vitest, and Playwright
  • Track deployments, handle incidents, and remain accountable for services running in production
  • Work with Product, Design, Operations, and engineering partners to shape and deliver features
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and code reviews
  • Coach engineers in AI-native development and orchestration practices
  • Find opportunities to automate manual QA, operational procedures, data analysis, and migration work

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
  • At least five years of professional experience delivering production software at scale
  • Required hands-on use of Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or a comparable AI coding agent as a primary development tool
  • Demonstrated delivery of features, refactors, or investigations through coordinated AI agents
  • Ability to operate multiple agents concurrently and manage parallel development streams
  • Strong foundations in object-oriented design, API design, data modeling, distributed-system reliability, and performance
  • Proficiency in a server-side language such as Ruby, Python, Go, Java, or an equivalent technology
  • Proficiency with a modern frontend stack such as React and TypeScript, or equivalent
  • Experience with relational databases including Postgres or MySQL and SQL
  • Experience developing or integrating REST or GraphQL APIs
  • Exceptional code-review judgment
  • Clear, effective written communication
  • High integrity, accountability, ownership, and dedication to quality
  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, ambiguous, autonomous environment
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship
  • Preferred: experience creating or extending AI developer tools such as custom skills, slash commands, MCP servers, sub-agents, evaluation harnesses, or prompt libraries
  • Preferred: Ruby on Rails and Solidus, Spree, or another large-scale e-commerce platform experience
  • Preferred: React 19, TypeScript, GraphQL/Apollo, Tailwind, React Query, XState, or Jotai experience
  • Preferred: Kubernetes, Istio, KEDA, Flagger, and modern observability experience
  • Preferred: Playwright, Vitest, and RSpec experience
  • Preferred: experience mentoring engineers in AI-native practices or guiding a transition away from manual coding
  • Preferred: documented AI-related gains in features delivered per week, cycle time, or review time
  • Preferred: background in a fast-paced, agile, high-growth startup or technology company
