RADWIN
RADWIN
RADWIN develops point-to-multipoint and point-to-point wireless broadband systems for connectivity in challenging environments. Its portfolio supports broadband access, network backhaul, private networks, video surveillance links, and connectivity for trains, vehicles, and vessels. The company says its systems are deployed in more than 170 countries and are designed to maintain performance amid interference and obstructed line of sight, using technologies such as beam-forming antennas and its Air Interface. RADWIN’s work spans wireless communications, manufacturing, and connectivity for transport and infrastructure applications.

Senior RF Hardware Engineer, Wi-Fi and Frequency Conversion

Develop Qualcomm-based Wi-Fi boards and frequency-conversion circuits at RADWIN. Lead RF design, calibration, verification, and production support.

Description

  • Design Wi-Fi RF boards using Qualcomm radio ICs and supporting RF, power, and clock components.
  • Develop frequency-conversion circuits with synthesizers, PLLs, VCOs, mixers, and local-oscillator distribution.
  • Assess phase noise, spurious signals, image rejection, and isolation.
  • Create and maintain OrCAD Capture schematics, choose components, and prepare bills of materials.
  • Guide PCB layout reviews covering stack-up, RF routing, impedance control, grounding, shielding, and decoupling.
  • Bring up, tune, and characterize Wi-Fi hardware with chipset vendor tools.
  • Configure and validate BDFs, front-end settings, transmit-power tables, and calibration data.
  • Debug and improve RF performance, including EVM, output power, receiver sensitivity, emissions, IQ imbalance, LO leakage, and interference.
  • Tune and validate digital predistortion when applicable.
  • Plan and run RF verification across frequencies, bandwidths, modulations, RF chains, temperatures, and supply conditions, including MIMO and multi-link modes where applicable.
  • Build automated measurement scripts, analysis, and reporting tools for development, regression testing, and production support.
  • Analyze RF systems, including link budgets, cascaded gain and noise figure, linearity, dynamic range, filtering, and spurious products.
  • Apply circuit and electromagnetic simulations to guide design and compare predicted results with measurements.
  • Work with firmware, software, mechanical, PCB layout, and manufacturing teams, plus chipset and component vendors, to solve integration issues and support product release.
  • Own technical work from system analysis and schematic design through board bring-up, calibration, performance optimization, and verification.
  • Report to the RF & Antenna Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive practical RF hardware development experience, with ownership of complex designs from concept through validation.
  • Demonstrated design and bring-up of Wi-Fi boards using Qualcomm or equivalent radio ICs; Qualcomm experience is strongly preferred.
  • Practical experience with Wi-Fi calibration, vendor test tools, BDFs or equivalent configuration files, and RF performance debugging.
  • Experience designing synthesizer-based frequency-conversion circuits.
  • Proficiency with OrCAD Capture and experience directing and reviewing RF PCB layouts.
  • Strong laboratory skills with spectrum and vector signal analyzers, signal generators, VNAs, power meters, oscilloscopes, and Wi-Fi test platforms such as LitePoint.
  • Practical fine-pitch soldering, rework, and board-level troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience building automated RF tests using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Experience with RF simulation software such as ADS or AWR, including validating simulations against measured results.
  • Sound knowledge of Wi-Fi PHY, modulation, OFDM, MIMO, and transmitter and receiver performance metrics.
  • Able to work independently and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Wi-Fi 6, 6E, or 7 experience, including multi-link operation (MLO), is an advantage.
  • Microwave or millimeter-wave hardware experience is an advantage.
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS or CST is an advantage.
