Senior Principal VDI/Citrix Engineer

Design and operate secure virtual desktop environments using Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, and AWS WorkSpaces. Support GDIT technology and mission services for U.S. government, defense, and intelligence customers.

Description

  • Design, deploy, integrate, and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments
  • Define architectures for new and existing VDI platforms
  • Create enterprise and solution designs for on-premises and cloud VDI systems
  • Deploy and improve cloud VDI solutions across AWS, Azure, and other providers
  • Integrate Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, and AWS WorkSpaces with existing infrastructure
  • Build and administer gold images, application packages, and software offerings
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, management tools, and system software
  • Administer Windows Server, Linux/Unix, identity and access management solutions, and large-scale integrations
  • Preserve the required security posture through updates and remediation
  • Build, migrate, and test AWS and Azure environments and integrations
  • Apply CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible for infrastructure as code
  • Automate operational processes and extend cloud hosting capabilities
  • Monitor and maintain infrastructure against client requirements
  • Produce documentation and technical briefings and support program status reviews
  • Work with distributed teams and provide occasional after-hours on-call coverage
  • Coordinate activities with cloud hosting infrastructure teams
  • Deliver large-scale environments through infrastructure as code
  • Rapidly prototype solutions to refine requirements and technical specifications
  • Maintain configurations in line with industry standards and established best practices
  • Remediate application and software package installations
  • Create templates and scripts that automate development and operations tasks
  • Evaluate tools and processes that can improve cloud platforms
  • Prepare technical documentation and briefing materials for reviews and control gates

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field
  • At least 10 years of related experience
  • At least 4–5 years of VDI or systems engineering experience
  • Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification, such as Security+
  • Proficiency with Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, and AWS WorkSpaces
  • Experience administering Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience with AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible
  • Experience with identity and access management, profile management, and large-scale system integration
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Citrix credentials such as CCAV or CCP-V preferred
  • Azure Virtual Desktop, ARM/Bicep templates, and automation experience preferred
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and project lifecycle workflows preferred
  • Availability to travel 10–25%
