Senior Manager, Data Engineering
Lead CVS Health’s data engineering and database teams, platforms, and operations in this Florida-based remote role. Guide enterprise data capabilities with a focus on reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
Description
- Lead and develop data engineering and database teams.
- Help shape workforce planning, organizational structure, and talent strategy.
- Direct the design, delivery, support, and ongoing improvement of data platforms and operational data solutions.
- Build scalable data ingestion, transformation, storage, and retrieval capabilities for analytics, reporting, and operations.
- Strengthen operations through monitoring, performance tuning, resilience planning, root cause analysis, automation, and risk reduction.
- Guide data engineering, database management, and selected platform and infrastructure work.
- Advance data quality, governance, service reliability, disaster recovery, scalability, and platform health.
- Work with engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, and business partners.
- Explain technical priorities, risks, and opportunities to senior business and IT leaders.
- Encourage high engineering standards, collaboration, accountability, ongoing improvement, thoughtful innovation, and responsible use of AI tools.
Requirements
- At least 7 years in data engineering, database engineering, data platform operations, or a related engineering field.
- Experience overseeing enterprise data solutions, including pipelines, database environments, and operational support.
- At least 7 years of SQL experience.
- Strong background in database technologies, data modeling, and database performance tuning.
- At least 5 years leading, managing performance, and developing engineering teams as a people leader or lead.
- At least 5 years improving operational excellence, service stability, and technology operations in complex environments.
- At least 5 years collaborating across engineering, infrastructure, security, architecture, and business teams.
- At least 2 years of responsible use of AI-enabled tools.
- Strong business judgment and communication skills.
- Ability to engage and influence senior business and IT leaders.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred experience includes AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; Python; Spark; data warehousing; modern data platform tools; platform engineering; infrastructure operations; resilience planning; disaster recovery; engineering modernization; or healthcare.
