Senior Java Cloud and GCP Developer - Washington Hybrid

Lead Java and Spring Boot modernization for FEMA applications through GCP migration, containerization, and DevSecOps. Support cloud-native infrastructure across Google Cloud, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.

Description

  • Architect, develop, containerize, and modernize enterprise Java and Spring Boot applications for GCP deployment.
  • Design strategic networks and implement scalable, secure, resilient cloud-native architectures that meet FEMA requirements.
  • Refactor and configure Java and Spring Boot services for Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environments.
  • Plan and deliver application and workload migrations to Google Cloud Platform services.
  • Build and maintain development, deployment, and release workflows with Git, Harness, Maven, and Gradle.
  • Implement and support CI/CD and DevSecOps processes covering automated builds, testing, security scans, deployments, and release controls.
  • Integrate distributed application and cloud-native functionality with Dapr, Dramon, and related platform services.
  • Apply security and code-quality practices using Snyk, SonarQube, and comparable tools.
  • Assess technologies and recommend solutions based on scalability, security, reliability, maintainability, interoperability, and operational needs.
  • Provide senior technical support for complex application, container, cloud platform, deployment, integration, performance, and connectivity problems.
  • Contribute to capacity planning, configuration reviews, security audits, performance analysis, and technical risk assessments.
  • Manage IP strategy for cloud applications, container platforms, service connectivity, and enterprise network integration.
  • Create and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, configurations, interface specifications, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Work with developers, cloud and DevSecOps engineers, security teams, architects, network engineers, product teams, and government stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership through design direction, code reviews, engineering standards, and mentoring.
  • Join architecture and engineering reviews and communicate recommendations, risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations.
  • Support production readiness, releases, incident response, root-cause analysis, and ongoing improvement of FEMA applications and cloud services.

Requirements

  • Independently lead complex engineering work from architecture through implementation and operational support.
  • Apply strong technical judgment to complex problems in enterprise cloud environments.
  • Develop and modernize Java and Spring Boot applications hands-on.
  • Containerize applications with Docker.
  • Work with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
  • Use Google Cloud Platform services and cloud-native architectures.
  • Manage source code and branching workflows with Git.
  • Use Harness or a comparable CI/CD deployment platform.
  • Manage builds and dependencies with Maven and/or Gradle.
  • Work with Dapr, Dramon, or comparable distributed application runtime technologies.
  • Use Snyk and SonarQube for security, vulnerability, and code-quality analysis.
  • Apply CI/CD and DevSecOps engineering practices.
  • Work with RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed application architectures.
  • Understand cloud security, configuration management, troubleshooting, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Management, or a related field.
  • Hold at least one advanced certification, such as GCP, Azure, or AWS Cloud certification; CISSP; or advanced Cisco certification including CCNP or CCIE.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • DHS EOD Public Trust is preferred.
  • FEMA Public Trust is highly preferred.
  • Be able to report occasionally onsite in Washington, DC, or Bluemont, VA, for meetings and events.
