Senior Exhibitions and Events Estimator

Lead project costing, supplier pricing and estimate-to-actual reviews for Tecna’s exhibitions and events work. Improve quotation accuracy, margins and profitability.

Description

  • Advise Sales and Creative teams on project costs, budgets and commercial decisions.
  • Handle escalations for bespoke, complex and non-standard estimates.
  • Review specifications, drawings and scopes of work to assess costs, risks and opportunities.
  • Align estimates with client expectations and Tecna’s commercial goals.
  • Contribute to margin reviews and improve project profitability.
  • Improve quotation tools for faster, more consistent and accurate estimates.
  • Maintain estimating tools, pricing matrices, calculators and costing databases.
  • Develop systems that let wider teams produce standard costings from reliable data.
  • Identify recurring items, cost trends and opportunities to standardise and improve processes.
  • Support estimating workflows in Odoo and other business systems.
  • Maintain the approved supplier database.
  • Build and maintain relationships with preferred suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Track supplier prices, lead times and market changes.
  • Work with Production and Procurement to find savings and alternative solutions.
  • Review completed projects against initial estimates and target margins.
  • Compare planned and actual costs to identify variances and lessons.
  • Create feedback loops to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
  • Support quote accuracy tracking and performance measurement.
  • Provide commercial insight to inform business decisions.
  • Work with Sales, Creative, Production, Procurement and Project Delivery teams.

Requirements

  • Experience in estimating, project costing or a related commercial position.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of margins, profitability and cost control.
  • Experience building or improving estimating processes, tools or systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Confidence communicating with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organisation and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • A proactive, driven approach with an ongoing focus on improving how work is done.
  • Strong Excel and data management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work from Tecna’s Farnborough headquarters.
