Senior Drupal Subject Matter Expert - Remote

Senior Drupal specialist responsible for secure, accessible enterprise architecture and modernization in cloud-hosted environments. The role supports DHS integrations, compliance, testing, and cloud initiatives.

Description

  • Lead enterprise Drupal design, modernization, and implementation strategies that meet DHS technical standards and cloud-hosting requirements.
  • Define Drupal application architectures, including monolithic and headless or decoupled models.
  • Set architecture patterns, coding standards, and reusable module practices.
  • Direct the development, enhancement, and maintenance of custom Drupal modules.
  • Assess and validate contributed Drupal modules and third-party libraries.
  • Improve Drupal performance through caching, content architecture, and page-rendering optimization.
  • Design integrations with Okta SSO, data services, cloud platforms, and external APIs.
  • Ensure Drupal applications function across DHS Headquarters, enterprise systems, and databases.
  • Maintain compliance with DHS security directives, cloud security controls, and NIST-aligned safeguards.
  • Verify Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 A/AA accessibility compliance while supporting Trusted Tester practices.
  • Oversee functional, regression, accessibility, usability, and integration testing activities.
  • Provide DevOps teams with technical direction for releases, migrations, deployments, and environment configuration.
  • Assess emerging Drupal capabilities, frameworks, hosting models, and supporting tools.
  • Advise leadership on Drupal roadmaps, platform consolidation, and enterprise reuse.
  • Mentor developers, analysts, and architects.
  • Create or supervise SELC documentation, architecture diagrams, data flows, module specifications, and user and developer guides.
  • Contribute to governance reviews, change control, and technical assessments for Drupal modernization and enhancement work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
  • At least 11 years of progressive technical or functional experience in a relevant technical area or specialty.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to complete a government-issued background investigation successfully.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to motivate and lead technical teams.
  • Microsoft certification is preferred.
  • Previous Public Trust or security clearance experience is preferred.
