Senior DevOps Engineer - GCP (Remote, Cyprus)

Operate and improve GoMining’s GCP and Kubernetes platform, with ownership of infrastructure automation, delivery pipelines, observability, security, and production reliability.

Description

  • Own and operate GoMining’s cloud platform
  • Manage GCP infrastructure spanning GKE, virtual machines, networking, load balancing, storage, and managed services
  • Administer Terraform-based infrastructure as code, including modules, state, dependencies, repeatable changes, and drift management
  • Run Kubernetes platforms by upgrading clusters and components and tuning autoscaling, workload placement, network policies, and resource allocation
  • Build CI/CD and GitOps workflows with GitLab CI and Flux or Argo CD for automated validation, deployment, controlled releases, and rollback
  • Develop observability for metrics, logs, distributed traces, and actionable alerts while improving SLIs and SLOs with engineering teams
  • Investigate production incidents and performance problems, lead root cause analysis, and prevent recurring failures
  • Apply least-privilege access, environment and service isolation, secure secret storage and rotation, and infrastructure audit controls
  • Maintain backup procedures and verify recovery for critical data and infrastructure against agreed RPO and RTO targets
  • Support engineering teams in production readiness, including health checks, resource settings, telemetry, and deployment practices
  • Reduce cloud infrastructure usage and costs while meeting reliability requirements
  • Keep infrastructure documentation, operational runbooks, and recovery procedures current

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to independently run production infrastructure and Kubernetes, including upgrades, incident response, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery
  • Strong GCP experience with GKE, Compute Engine, VPC, IAM, and Cloud Storage, plus working knowledge of Cloud SQL, Cloud Logging, and Cloud Monitoring
  • Practical Terraform expertise covering modules, remote state, locking, resource imports, and safe CI-driven infrastructure changes
  • Deep Kubernetes and containerization knowledge, including Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, storage, resource requests and limits, probes, autoscaling, RBAC, and NetworkPolicy
  • Experience using Helm and Kustomize
  • Strong Linux administration skills, preferably on Debian or Ubuntu, including processes, systemd, filesystems, disks, and resource diagnosis
  • Solid networking fundamentals covering TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP(S), TLS, routing, NAT, load balancing, and firewalls
  • Ability to diagnose connectivity problems across applications, Kubernetes clusters, networks, and cloud services
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab CI, and a strong grasp of Git and GitOps practices
  • Understanding of runner permissions, secret protection, and production deployment safeguards
  • Automation experience with Bash and Python, including maintainable infrastructure scripts and API integrations
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Cloud Monitoring
  • Operational PostgreSQL experience and knowledge of Redis and RabbitMQ availability, connections, replication or clustering, backups, and recovery
  • Strong cloud security knowledge covering least privilege, service accounts, Workload Identity, secrets management, network segmentation, and access auditing
  • Ability to take infrastructure changes through validation into production, explain technical trade-offs, and collaborate effectively with Engineering and Security
  • Preferred: experience with Flux CD, Argo CD, Ansible, and HashiCorp Vault
  • Preferred: experience with OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing
  • Preferred: experience migrating infrastructure between clouds or Kubernetes clusters, including low-downtime database migrations
  • Preferred: experience designing disaster recovery strategies and running recovery exercises
  • Preferred: experience with cloud cost optimization and capacity planning
  • Preferred: experience with DigitalOcean, Hetzner, or AWS
  • Preferred: ability to read and troubleshoot JavaScript or TypeScript applications
  • Preferred: experience operating financial or payment services with strict access control, auditability, reliability, and data integrity requirements
